Ways to Give

Melissa Crespo (Drama ’05)

There are many ways to support the Campaign for the College. Most donors make gifts and pledge payments by check, credit card or automatic bank drafts. Others take advantage of tax savings that come from giving appreciated stocks, shares of mutual funds or real estate. For your convenience, we offer a variety of ways for you to make a donation.

Your campaign contribution will allow the College to set even higher standards for academic achievement, international understanding and research excellence.

Gift Types

  • Annual Giving

Each year thousands of the school’s most engaged donors make unrestricted gifts to the Arts & Sciences Annual Fund, gifts that are essential for the schools day-to-day operation and for providing many of the extras that enhance the College.

Annual Fund gifts come in all sizes, from $25 to $2,500 and more. Together they have tremendous impact: millions of dollars a year that the dean can use in specific, immediate ways to advance the academic enterprise. From seed money for student and faculty research, to fellowships for graduate fellowships, to support for developing new courses, the Arts & Sciences Annual Fund touches everyone in the College every day.

All gifts to the Annual Fund made by donors in their Reunion year will count toward their Reunion class total.

For more on annual giving, contact Jay Jackson, Director of Annual Giving, at (434) 924-0729, or .

  • Designated Gifts and Pledges

In addition to their Annual Fund support, many donors will want to support the Campaign for the College with a gift to the South Lawn Project or one of the campaigns five areas of programmatic emphasis. Often made over several years, designated gifts can directly fund construction, salaries, and operating budgets, or at the highest levels they can establish an endowment that generates sufficient annual income to fund programs or positions in perpetuity.

For more on designated gifts and pledges, contact Alison Traub, Interim Executive Director of Development, at (434) 924-7213 or .

  • Future Support

The Campaign for the College also recognizes future support, giving that is generally part of a plan for managing a donor’s final estate. From bequests to insurance policies to trusts and more, the range of planned giving vehicles offers many opportunities for donors to support Arts & Sciences through their estate planning.

For more on future support, please visit the University’s Gift Planning website or call 800-688-9882.
